The responses to this both irritate and sadden me.

“I don’t like her writing.”

…And? There are pieces of her writing that I did not like either. That does not mean it is okay to harass and abuse her. That does not mean you cannot show support when she is being subjected to something so heinous.

“Her response was rude and unprofessional!”

Was the response she gave the best thing to do? Probably not. However, no matter what her detractors want to believe, Mz. Hepler is a human being with feelings. I imagine she was quite upset when she gave that response. Perfectly understandable. You cannot expect Mz. Hepler (or any Bioware employee) to act professionally 100% of the time, especially when they are being attacked and bullied non-stop.

“She brushed off valid criticism!”

‘You’re a fat cunt who is single-handedly destroying Bioware’ is not criticism. Attacking someone’s gender, race, religion, sexuality, weight, etc, because you do not like their writing/opinions is not criticism. This is a big problem that the Faceless Internet has, thinking that insults = valid criticism.

“It’s the internet! They’re just basement-dwelling trolls!”

…So? The bullying is somehow less real, less heinous, because it is on the internet? Words never hurt? Children have never committed suicide due to abuse and bullying plastered all over their facebooks? Come on now.

I really want to know what Bioware is going to do about the people who are being abusive on the BSN. I can see why they wouldn’t do anything about the Twitter users, but the BSN is their own forum, which is being used to harass one of their employees. Will the harassers get banned? Punished in some other way? They deserve something.
