Hey Look, There's Stuff. |
I post stuff related to my bazillion fandoms. Expect a lot of Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Star Wars, Farscape, Firefly, X-Men, Avengers, comics in general, Fallout, Star Trek, Assassin's Creed, video games in general, Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, and so on. The list gets a bit long. Also, I talk about books a lot. Sometimes it gets political. |
Only when he hears the laughter does he realize how long it’s been since the sound of unfettered mirth has reached his ears.
No one laughs when he is around (or if they do, his appearance puts an abrupt end to it). No one meets his eyes. Conversations end when he enters rooms, and people he’d thought friends—practically family (no, Sebastian, don’t think about family, you mustn’t think about family)—make excuses to be anywhere but where he is.
He’s not sure if it’s because of what happened in Starkhaven, or because of the way he turned his back on his vows when he found out about it.
It has been weeks since… since the garden. The white and gold armor rests as easily on his shoulders now as ever his priest’s robes did, and though he still sleeps in his little chantry room (the Grand Cleric does not deny him this, though she makes no secret of her disappointment with his decisions), he is not quite part of things here the way he once was.
It is a place to sleep, but it isn’t home. Not really. Not anymore. Perhaps not ever again.
Oh my gosh how did I miss this? I am late to the party at the end of the whole thing.
I have to say, I wasn’t expecting that ending, but I really loved it. This whole series has pretty much punched me right in the heart (and I mean that in the best way). I always liked Sebastian, but I feel like I know him better after reading this. You made him more real for me. This is the perfect end; thank you for writing it.
I almost missed yours! I’m sorry!! Thank you so much. I know I just keep saying thank you, but… it really does mean so...
did I miss this? I am late...whole thing. I have...say, I...
sit down and finish reading these, and I cannot rec the series highly enough. It’s such an incredible and detailed look...
